Hitchens on Losing Iraq
Christopher Hitchens in Slate asks why the generous spirit of the Left has not come to the support of the hapless citizens of today's Iraq.
This blog is my effort to puzzle out the world. I'll write whatever comes into my head, but probably return frequently to my obsessions. I seem to be interested in the workings of democracy, economics, the functioning of social groups, the future of humanity, scientific concepts, statistical concepts, logical thinking, nuclear power, evolution, space, the environment and most everything else. I'll try to post only when I think I have my own angle on something.

JJ, maybe because it would show agreement with a president and a political party they abhor?
It is unfortunate for the Iraqi people that our whole involvement is being equated to Viet Nam. Different country, different issues, different U.S..
The issue that keeps getting banged on is the funky data on the MWD's. It is like original sin, true or not, you will never change it. The assumption by the pundits is if the original reason for being there was flawed, then our whole reason for continuing there is flawed. That is a conclusion that does not necessarily follow
Well said. But more importantly, they have decided to let the Iraqis suffer in order to prove a point. If the US govt. won't take our advice, then they'll just have to discover the consequences of their own stupidity. I think this attitude was Biblically exemplified by Pontius Pilate.
