Pipesters Prevail
Daniel Pipes is trumpeting the victory over CAIR by his protege organization, the anti-Islamist group Anti-CAIR. The issue was a harassment lawsuit instigated by CAIR, which they have apparently backed down on in a big way.

I don't know much about this lawsuit, but CAIR has done a lot of good outreach to the American people. I do not know what their political affiliations are, but their free Quran program was a great sucess, as far as I can tell. I received one. It was a beautiful edition in Arabic, English, and transliterated Arabic. I cannot think of a better way to get people thinking than to actually provide a copy of the religious text that is so misunderstood and attacked in the West.
Thanks for the comment Anthony. You make them sound like the Gideons. My understanding is that you really can't understand Islam by simply reading the Koran though. How many Christians learned their religion by reading the Bible. Usually there is a structured lesson sequence describing keystone concepts in a careful sequence. I imagine it's the same for Islam.
Years ago I tried reading a copy of Ayatollah Khomeini's "Little Green Book", which was advertised as a sort of catechism. Quite frankly, I found it apalling. I thought at the time that it might be disinformation designed to discredit Islam, but I never heard anything to that effect, and I kind of lost interest in Islam at that point.
I get all my information on CAIR from Daniel Pipes, an admittedly biased source, but my understanding is that they resort to lawsuits often. They aren't the only religious organization to do so. Scientology is also famous for SLAPPs. I don't think that the mainstream Christian organizations do that at all.
